Part of the Bazan Group’s core business activity is the promotion and fostering of an active environmental protection policy. The Group places great importance on close collaboration on these matters with the legal authorities as well as on compliance with all the relevant provisions applicable to this topic by law and in accordance with regulations and standards.
In the domain of environmental protection, the Group insists on tangential aspects such as employee safety, the safety of visitors and public health. It works closely with citizen environmental and extra-government bodies which assist it in improving environmental protection and assimilation of green sustainability principles in the organization.
The Group operates multiple methodologies to reduce the effect on the environment in which it functions by making significant reductions in air emissions. The Group’s management is working to identify all the environmental risks on its threshold, where environmental protection is its primary business interest. The Group also attaches importance to:

The Bazan Group complies with the requirements of the relevant environmental standard of the Israeli Standards Institute. It complies with all the requirements of the standard in order to further the goal defined by its management to go even further than the basic requirements of the law. This approach encompasses additional areas of the Group’s operations in respect of environmental protection and in many cases, the Group insists on compliance with standards which are stricter than those of the law and the regulations.
Environmental protection forum
As part of the entire corporate responsibility program, the Bazan Group operates the environmental protection forum. The forum works to realize a number of material goals linked to environmental protection, including assistance with the Group’s management on various environmental protection topics, maintenance of a link between the Bazan Group and the legal authorities regarding environmental matters, maintenance of a link between the Group and stakeholders on environmental matters, assistance with the Group’s activities in the environmental field in accordance with its corporate responsibility policy and maintenance of effective control systems regarding implementation of the instructions of the steering committee with regard to the environment.
The environmental protection forum is responsible for finding a balance and correct balance between environmental protection, the requirements of the law and business aspects. The forum works to increase relevant information about environmental quality among stakeholders and encourages its employees to serve as environmental ambassadors in their work and in their community.
Laws applicable to the Bazan Group in the area of environmental protection
The Bazan Group owns industrial plants and so various environmental protection laws apply to it. Among the principal laws are:

• Business Licensing Law, 1968
• Prevention of Sea Pollution from Land-Based Sources law, 1988.
• Water Law, 1959
In parallel with the provisions of the above law, additional provisions originating from licenses and permits (which are required for areas of the Group’s activities) are also applicable to the Group. Its policy in this regard derives from a long-term perception and so the Company invests resources (management and financial) in order to be in strict compliance with all the applicable regulatory directives.
